About Andrew
I was educated in England gaining Grade 8 piano with distinction and then BSc and PhD followed by Associate diploma of the Royal College of Organists. These qualifications set me up to a lifetime taking part in musical performances at a high level. I was organist and choirmaster at a parish church and was in the CBSO Symphony Chorus during the period with Sir Simon Rattle.
In 2002 I moved to Australia where I have pursued a career in music and science initially at the University of Queensland. Over the past 5 years I have concentrated on teaching at my home and I continue to prepare students successfully for AMEB piano exams, including several high distinctions.

I have availability for 30 minute 1 on 1 tutoring lessons for beginners or 1 hour for more advanced students. My piano teaching follows the AMEB classical or music for pleasure syllabuses but I have also experience with others including the Associated Board of the RSM.
The youngest I have taught over the past 30 years has been 6 years old and the oldest was a gentleman in his 70s. So I can tailor the lesson to suit the individual and use the most appropriate teaching material. But learning any instrument, including the piano, is not just about "getting the notes right" or technique. It is also about becoming musical and creative, something I am very keen to instill in my students. For advanced students I am also happy to teach and mark music theory and help coaching for performances and diplomas.
I continue to perform in my own right as pianist and organist, and have accompanied several students over the past few years as they have been coached for AMEB exams.
