About Jacob
As a piano tutor with 2 years of experience and a DMA in Piano Performance, I specialise in high-level jazz development. My background allows me to approach jazz with both technical discipline and artistic sensitivity. Excellence requires both.
I guide students aiming for Berklee, Juilliard, and other competitive jazz conservatories. Audition preparation is focused and comprehensive. Standards are high.
We work on harmonic extensions, improvisation strategies, comping techniques, and advanced repertoire. Ear training and transcription are essential components. Mastery grows from detail.
My goal is to unlock each student’s creative and technical potential for advanced jazz performance. I push for clarity, confidence, and individuality. Together, we build artistry that stands out.

My piano teaching method focuses on clarity, structure, and practical application. Technique and theory are developed together from the beginning. Strong basics matter.
I teach scales, chord progressions, inversions, and harmonic analysis directly at the keyboard. Students see how theory shapes real music. Learning becomes logical.
We break down complex pieces into understandable harmonic sections. This helps memorisation and interpretation. Knowledge reduces stress.
I work especially well with The Exam Taker, guiding them through syllabus requirements step by step. Preparation is organised and efficient.
The Classical Performer receives tailored coaching to connect theory with expressive playing. Musical intention becomes stronger.
Lessons build a solid base for composition and improvisation. Creativity grows from understanding structure. Together, we strengthen both skill and confidence.
