About Luke
My first 2 years of University I remember thinking to myself the best engineers must have to study so much to get to that level. It wasn't until my 3rd year when I did a year long placement in a real company that I realised how wrong I was. The very best engineers you'll ever meet are the ones who get stuck in and try new things outside their comfort zone, who solve real-life problems.
Ever since then I've been on a quest to put that into practice and learn to be a good software engineer without holding myself to this holy grail of standards laid out by books written 20 years ago. I hope to not only assist you technically but also impart some of that mentality.

I have spent the last 4 years mentoring and upskilling junior developers to help give them the tools needed to become well rounded software engineers. While I specialise in React my method of teaching is to work with you and pair in the same way I would someone I work with. This will help you to not only learn the tools of the trade but also how to implement them to become an effective engineer, so you aren't just a React Developer.
I am capable of mentoring people new to programming as well as junior to mid-level professionals looking to improve and learn from someone outside their own team. I usually do pairing sessions about an hour long (sometimes more if we're in the zone) as I feel this is the best duration to not overload you and allow you to absorb information between sessions.
Finally I want to say that I want sessions to be enjoyable and relaxed because that's when we learn the best. Spending 9 hours a day doing something you love is always a joy, but the people are the only constant so it's a big part of my ethos.
