About Paul
I'm a passionate trumpet player and vocalist living in Austin, Texas, with my wife and our 8-year-old son. With an Associate's Degree in Vocal Music Education from Del Mar College, a Bachelor's in Instrumental Music Education from Texas A&M University, and over 14 years of experience teaching and directing award-winning mariachi programs, I'm dedicated to helping students of all ages unlock their musical potential. As the manager and director of the acclaimed Mariachi Capitál, I lead a thriving musical ensemble and enjoy performing regularly. This experience and my passion for audio engineering allow me to offer my students a unique perspective, helping them refine their tone and technique for individual and group performances. My commitment to self-improvement ensures that I constantly evolve as a musician and educator, incorporating new methods and approaches into my lessons. In addition to my musical pursuits, I also enjoy a variety of other activities that enrich my life and inform my teaching: Audio engineering: I deeply understand sound and can help students refine their tone and technique. Self-improvement: I'm always learning and growing as a musician and a person, which informs my teaching approach. Substitute teaching: My experience in the classroom helps me connect with students of all ages and learning styles. Designing websites, business cards, ads, and other marketing materials: My creative skills allow me to develop engaging and practical lesson plans for my students. Photography: I have an eye for detail and appreciate the beauty in the world around me. Chess: The strategic thinking and problem-solving skills honed in chess help me efficiently plan lessons tailored to each student's needs. Flight simulation training: I'm fascinated by aviation and enjoy learning about new technologies. Woodworking: I enjoy creating with my hands and find the process relaxing and rewarding. Spending time outdoors with my family: I value family time and believe in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I believe in a well-rounded approach to life and bring that same philosophy to my teaching. I aim to inspire a love of music and help students develop their skills in a supportive environment.

Paul is very knowledgeable. He is able to explain in simple terms the task at hand so that my 13 year old can accomplish his goals as a musician. He is a great a motivator and has given my son so much confidence in his playing skills that he won’t put his trumpet down through out the week and looks forward to his trumpet lesson week after week. I have noticed a difference in my son’s technique and look forward to seeing him flourish as a trumpet player under Paul’s direction.
