About Naomi
I am a professional trilingual classical and electric violinist based in London and can give lessons in English, German or Spanish. I have been giving lessons to both adults and children for 5 years and guided students through the ABRSM grade system as well as to achieve personal goals. I am a current Master's student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and have had training with internationally renowned musicians such as Michael Bochmann, Nina Martin and Anthony Marwood as well as in ensembles such as the National Youth Orchestra and Junge Kammerphilarmonie Berlin. I combine a love for music with excellent classical technique in my classes and am able to teach folk, pop and jazz violin too, which I often perform in private and commercial events. Each person is unique and, as such, my lessons are completely personalised! Whether you are interested in Classical, Folk, Jazz or Pop, I can equip you with the skills you need to achieve your goals and practice effectively. Below I include a brief introduction to my teaching approach for adults and children...
Adults
Lessons will always start with a warm up and technical exercises which are adapted to the level of the student. Whilst ensuring that left and right hand technique as well as whole body posture are sustainable, musicality will not be left aside! Lessons will be accompanied by continued discussion of the students' goals and motivations, and repertoire will be chosen on the basis of this.
Children
With children, the most important thing is maintaining motivation! As such, I make big use of games and song as well as encouraging children to use movement in lessons. As much a part of learning to play is developing a musical ear, so where children are not having music theory lessons separately I incorporate this into my lessons. I find using ABRSM grades a very helpful system for students but use other resources and level-appropriate pieces to complement this.
