About Barbara
I am a professor and published author with over 10 years of teaching experience. I have coached hundreds of students in academic writing from short answer questions to doctoral dissertations. I meet students of all ages where they are and help them overcome challenges they encounter in their academic writing, no matter how big or how small. I provide constructive feedback, step-by-step guidance for complex tasks, detailed instruction on APA formatting (other styles available, too!), and editing and proofreading. Why me? As a graduate school professor, I have extensive experience guiding high school through graduate school students through advanced academic writing, including theses and dissertations. I help students develop skills that will serve them not just in their current coursework, but throughout their academic and professional careers. A typical lesson will look like this: 1. Assessment and Goal Setting - We start by reviewing the assignment, your progress, and the student's goal for the session. 2. Instruction and Discussion: This is where we work on achieving the student's goal and I provide targeted explanations. 3. Hands-On Practice: We work through the student's paper, applying revisions and refining arguments. 4. Final Review and Next Steps: We end by summarizing the key takeaways and developing an action plan for the student's next steps. Who are the lessons for? 1.
