About Laurel

Teaching programming serves as a way to convert complex logic into tangible results for you. You likely want to understand how Python, Java, or JavaScript function under the hood, and I help you bridge that gap through project based learning.

My 13 years of experience in the field allow me to simplify debugging techniques, HTML, CSS, and clean code practices effectively. Having successfully guided 55 students through these technical requirements, I emphasize that coding is a skill built on discipline. Writing scripts that execute flawlessly requires patience, and I enjoy helping others develop that same technical intuition. This journey of building software from scratch remains one of the most fulfilling parts of my career.

About the lesson

Your first session begins with a review of your current code to identify immediate areas for improvement. You will find that I assign a hands-on mini project after every single class to solidify the syntax and logic we just covered. This method stems from my 13 years of experience where I found that practice outweighs reading textbooks. My Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Johns Hopkins University taught me the value of structured experimentation, which I now apply to every programming lesson.
