About Ross
I'm a big nerd who loves film, fantasy books and table top RPGs, and I'm studying to be a secondary school teacher.
I'm friendly, patient and I love to explain things. I think teaching was what I was always meant to do! I take pride in being able to make complicated ideas simple to understand and turn mere 'content' into knowledge you will value.
I have known what it is like to be the worst student in the class, as well as the best one. I try to be aware when a student needs encouragement, and when they need a challenge.

Where students feel they lack either motivation or competence in a subject, I've found drawing them into an engaging dialogue can nurture a genuine interest, as well as a sense of competence. We are wired to learn what we think is important to us.
Using drills, application tasks or even alternating the teaching role with the student are techniques I would use when focusing on memorizing a lot of content, or more complex concepts. I can also assist in creating study plans and strategies.
I have some private tutoring experience with university undergraduates, and have completed a bachelor of Science and bachelor of Arts at Monash University, majoring in Psychology and Philosophy, with minors in Physiology (neuroscience) and Bioethics.
I can tailor lessons to secondary and undergraduate students of any age, from 30 minutes to 2 hours long, depending on the subject and their own needs.
