About Janice
Hi there, I'm Janice. I have a PhD, Master's and Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I am an experienced instructor for 300-level college courses in Psychology and Research Methods. I have also mentored college students of underrepresented ethnic minorities in their Bachelor's theses. After graduating with my doctorate in 2021, I have worked in MAANG companies for 3 years in the Market Research (e.g., UX, Consumer Insights) field until I decided to dedicate more time to raising my daughter at home and help other students out in their academic careers. I truly believe that anyone can succeed with sufficient support and resources. I hope that you'll allow me to the opportunity to help you get to where you want to be.

Generally for application (e.g., resume, cover letter, personal essay) reviews, I tend to find the following process most productive use of my time and expertise (thus lowest cost to you) based on experience: (1) you provide, in as much detail as possible, your goals and what is asked of you in your application material (e.g., prompts), if not a rough draft that is ready for my review and feedback; then (2) I will review your info (and draft ideally) on my own and (3) meet with you virtually to go over my suggestions, discuss techniques for application success, and answer any questions you may have. If a draft is provided, my edits and revisions will be sent to you at the end of our lesson in Word format. Costs vary based on the stage you're in (e.g., planning vs. having a draft ready for review) and support you need (e.g., ongoing vs. one-time).
Other academic writing needs (e.g. Bachelor's / Master's Theses, PhD Dissertations) generally follows the same process.
I charge my hourly rate if you need tutoring for academic subjects (e.g., Psychology, Statistics, Research Methodology) at high school, college, or Master's or PhD level. To maximize the value you get out of my time, our lesson will follow a Q&A style where I make sure all your questions are answered and we can dive deep into specific topics you need more support in.
