About Kia
I’m a published author with experience in both traditional and self-publishing, and I currently run an international literary magazine that supports emerging writers across the globe. With years of experience in writing, editing, and mentoring, I bring a deep understanding of language, storytelling, and academic English to every session. I’ve worked with students from a range of backgrounds and levels - from high schoolers tackling exam prep to young writers developing their voice. I believe in making English engaging, empowering, and tailored to each student’s strengths. Whether you're working on essays, creative writing, or reading comprehension, I’m here to help you grow in skill and confidence!

As a tutor, my approach is highly personalised. Generally I begin by understanding each student’s goals, challenges, and learning style. Whether you’re in elementary school, preparing for exams like the IB or A-Levels, or simply want to improve your creative writing or analytical skills, I tailor each lesson to you.
My teaching method combines structure and flexibility. I focus on building core skills - reading comprehension, essay structure, vocabulary, grammar, and creative expression - through engaging exercises, discussion, and real-world examples from literature and writing.
A typical lesson might start with a warm-up (like a short writing or comprehension task), followed by a deep dive into a key skill (e.g. analysing a passage, planning an essay, or editing creative work), and end with feedback and a brief reflection to reinforce learning.
What sets me apart is my experience as a published author and founder/chief editor of a literary magazine. I bring real-world insight into storytelling, clarity, and voice, skills that are valuable not just in English class but across academic and professional contexts.
My lessons are ideal for:
- Middle school students (GCSE, MYP, etc.)
- Aspiring writers seeking to develop style and voice
- Students looking to improve academic essay writing and exam performance
- Non-native English speakers who want immersive, high-level language support
Hopefully see you soon!
