About Riya
I am a current Sophomore at Purdue University majoring in Computer Science. I just finished taking Multivariate Calculus freshman year and I am going on to take Linear Algebra and Statistics. Throughout elementary and middle school I struggled with math, I felt that I was always behind. But what helped me catch up and get ahead was getting help from others. I went and asked my teachers for help, and I got outside help from tutoring. I believe these two things are what helped me improve my problem-solving skills in math and helped me have success. So I believe whether you are struggling a lot or just a little you should have a tutor to support and help you grow like it helped me grow.

When it comes to teaching certain math topics I will first give a definition and help the student understand what they are learning. Then I will walk them through an example step by step and have them explain the steps back to me and how the answer was obtained. Then I will give them practice problems to do on their own and they will explain how they did them. I think what sets me apart is that I have the student explain exactly what they are doing and not just accepting the fact they got the answer. The lessons would be for kids struggling with homework, school work, or for kids trying to get ahead in math.
