About Georgia
I am Georgia, I am 23 years old and my own exams weren't too long ago! I am going to be studying a Masters in September and want to put myself back in the educational mindset. I really enjoyed learning Psychology and found it so interesting, and would love to see some new Psychologists.

My approach to teaching is student-centric, focusing on building a strong foundational understanding of psychological concepts. I aim to foster critical thinking and active learning rather than rote memorisation. As someone myself, who struggled to simply memorise all exam material, I think it's highly important to practise more fun ways to revise. For example, I found I could think back to discussions more easily than a block of text on a page. Facilitating discussions on controversial topics or different theoretical perspectives to deepen understanding and critical analysis is important as a typical 16-mark A-level Psychology essay question requires you to describe (AO1) and evaluate (AO3) a theory or concept. Discussions help the evaluation questions as we need to highlight the for and against points. We can try using mnemonics, mind maps, flashcards, and active recall techniques like spaced repetition and self-testing. Visual aids, such as diagrams and images, can also be helpful. Repeatedly engaging with the material through writing, speaking, and teaching others reinforces learning and memory. Each student is different so I employ a variety of the above methods tailored to individual learning styles. I think feedback is also something to be tailored to each student. Some may thrive from praise throughout and others may want it more casually. I believe that my own psychological and emotional understanding means I am able to pick up on this and apply accordingly. Especially when providing constructive feedback to address student misconceptions. I found in Psychology that Problem-Based Learning was beneficial. This is presenting real-world scenarios or research questions to stimulate application of knowledge. This is useful for questions like "Psychologists investigating social influence have discovered several reasons why people conform. Discuss what psychological research has told us about why people conform." This is a 16 mark question which links to real-world scenarios. If the student can remember the real-world link, e.g. fashion is people conforming to trends with their clothing due to social influences like social media and celebrities. Presenting these scenarios like this could broaden their thinking and help even by looking down at their own clothes in the exam which could trigger their memories and help them apply their subject knowledge to the question. Typical Length of a Lesson can be 45-90 minutes, adjustable based on student needs and focus areas. Qualifications & Experience: I have a 2:1 Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Leeds Beckett University. I achieved a B in both English Language and Psychology at A-level. So I am confident in my English and Psychology abilities. Though it's my first time tutoring formally, I have been part of informal peer tutoring during my A-levels. Assisted classmates with understanding complex topics. My closest friend is a High School teacher and we discuss teaching methods. Finally, I have led study groups for psychology modules during university. I have worked in Customer Service since I was young and have developed excellent communication and explanation skills as well as patience and empathy. I offer tutoring for A-Level Psychology (all exam boards), undergraduate psychology students (Years 1-3, covering modules such as Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, and individuals seeking to strengthen their understanding of core psychological principles. I can also assist with essay writing and exam preparation.
