About Ben
Mathematics has always been a subject I've enjoyed because of the logical thinking and problem-solving skills it develops. After completing my Engineering Design degree, I chose to pursue a career in teaching because I wanted to make a meaningful difference to young people's lives and help them realise that success in Maths is achievable for everyone.
As a qualified Mathematics teacher with experience across several secondary schools and as a private tutor, I've worked with students of all abilities and backgrounds. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing students grow in confidence, overcome barriers and achieve results they never thought possible.
I believe the best learning happens in a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and celebrating progress. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for GCSEs or aiming for the highest grades, my goal is to make Maths accessible, engaging and enjoyable while helping them reach their full potential.

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, ensuring they receive the right level of challenge and support. I begin by identifying strengths, areas for improvement and long-term goals, then create a clear plan to help them make steady progress.
My lessons are friendly, structured and interactive. I break complex topics down into simple, manageable steps, using worked examples before giving students the opportunity to practise independently. Throughout the lesson, I check understanding regularly and adapt my explanations where needed.
For students preparing for exams, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, common misconceptions and developing confidence when tackling unfamiliar questions. I use past-paper questions, retrieval practice and targeted feedback to help students maximise their marks.
Above all, I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Building confidence is just as important as improving mathematical ability, and my goal is for every student to leave each lesson feeling more capable and motivated than when they arrived.
