About Tim
I have been working with young people for 10 years. I have always enjoyed it, particularly in those moments when a student has been struggling with a concept, and they finally hear it in a different way that makes them go 'Ohhh!'.
The man who taught me how to teach gave me a profound saying that I take to heart with every person I work with: "They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care".

Tim uses an encouraging and gentle approach to gain a positive relationship with his students. He believes that students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.
Sessions are typically one hour. The content within that is mostly student-led, as Tim expects them to take responsibility for their learning.
Tim has 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics, having gained his PGCE in Secondary Mathematics in 2017, and a BSc in Physics before that. Certificates can be provided upon request (along with DBS). He has tutored over 50 students in that time, with consistent gains in their grades shown.
Tim specialises in working with young people, Years 9 to 13 (between the ages of 13 and 17).

Tim is a fantastic maths tutor. Instead of simply showing my daughters how to solve a maths problem, he encourages them to think through problems independently, which has greatly improved both their confidence and belief in their own abilities. He is incredibly patient and supportive, and if something doesn’t click straight away, he always finds another way to explain it until it makes sense. He’s also reliable, friendly, and very accommodating when lessons need to be rearranged. Both my daughters and I would highly recommend him.
We are incredibly grateful to Tim for the support he’s given to our son since starting tuition in Year 10. His confidence in maths has improved enormously. Tim is patient, encouraging, and explains things in a way our son really understands, which has helped him feel much more positive and capable.
