About Lumi
I am a passionate piano tutor with 7 years of teaching experience, having successfully guided around 300 students. My learners include high school students, college learners, and adults who want to grow as musicians. Teaching piano allows me to combine technical instruction with encouragement, helping students develop skill, confidence, and a lifelong love for music.
My teaching philosophy focuses on building strong fundamentals while encouraging creativity and expression. I emphasise posture, hand positioning, finger independence, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical interpretation. I make sure students understand both the technical and emotional aspects of each piece they play.
Lessons are structured with warm-ups, technical exercises, theory application, and repertoire practice. I also guide students in effective at-home practice to maintain steady improvement. Many students have performed confidently in recitals, school programmes, and public events, while several have earned high distinctions in graded examinations.
My goal is to develop skilled, expressive, and confident pianists who enjoy learning music and continue growing throughout their journey.

My piano teaching approach combines communication, creativity, flexibility, and consistent encouragement to support complete musical growth. I focus on building a strong technical base while helping students enjoy the artistic side of music. I clearly explain posture, hand balance, rhythm patterns, and musical reading skills to avoid confusion and build accuracy.
Communication ensures students understand their progress and feel confident discussing difficulties. Creativity keeps lessons interesting and inspiring through improvisation, expressive interpretation, and exploring different musical styles. Flexibility allows me to adapt lesson plans based on age, skill level, and learning speed.
I also guide students in setting realistic goals and developing strong practice discipline. Besides piano performance, I teach music theory, harmony, sight reading, and ear development to create well-rounded musicians. My aim is to nurture skilled, confident pianists who perform with both technical excellence and emotional depth.
