About Susan
I am currently serving as a Director of Maths and Science, bringing over a decade of experience across the primary, secondary, and community education sectors. I have a comprehensive understanding of the Primary National Curriculum and am well-versed in delivering GCSE Maths and A Level Maths according to the latest specifications of the AQA, Edexcel, and OCR examination boards. Additionally, my experience in supporting students with special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, dyscalculia, and dyslexia, enables me to make maths learning accessible and inclusive for all students.

Assessing students' capabilities in maths, informs my future planning of sessions to ensure gaps in prior knowledge are filled first. This then paves the way to cumulatively, build up and extend topic knowledge based on a solid foundation of basic maths skills. I am able to explain topics using different representations to help students make sense of the learning. When students gain success by achieving the correct answers, in my opinion, they are more receptive to continue learning, building up the resilience to try various problem-solving questions. Strengths in maths are recognised and integrated as facts and recall type questions. This interleaving of strengths, spaced over a duration of time, assists student retention. With access to a plethora of resources, exam questions are used consistently throughout sessions, so students gain exposure and familiarity to questions used as part of school assessments and exams.
