About John
I am a practicing solicitor and work for a Legal 500 international law firm at their Exeter office. As a student I achieved exemplary results with a first class law degree and a masters with distinction. I have tutored undergraduates in law and have a very well structured and organised but friendly teaching style with great feedback from students.
Additionally, I have a very strong understanding of legal practice and for those students considering entering the profession, I am able to provide a good grounding in what to expect and how to prepare for a career in law.
Before I was a lawyer I owned a restaurant, I was a web programmer, and I had other roles before these. I therefore have a wide variety of experience which I bring to the tutor/student experience. This has taught me the soft skills and emotional intelligence that is so important for teachers and tutors.

I tailor my lessons based on the course you are on and the syllabus on that course. For example, on a law degree, I will provide supplemental and supportive teaching in parallel with each module you are studying in any given subject. This will involve a roadmap through the evolution of that area of the law and a review of the key caselaw along the way.
I find that what works best is a combination of summative and formative assessment. I will review work you are completing on your course, for example an essay or problem question you have completed in your law degree, and give you structured feedback.
A typical length of a lesson is one hour but for students that need longer, we can design a timetable that works best for you.
I am a qualified solicitor and work for a legal 500 international law firm. I have an LLB, an LLM and an LPC and have tutored various students from undergraduates to LPC students when the LPC was still part of the route to becoming a solicitor.
I teach A level and undergraduate level.
