About Scott
I love working with students and making them feel proud of their achievements in a subject I love, whether that's getting a A* at A Level, or finally cracking Pythagoras. I think the impact of having a teacher/tutor believing in your progress can be massive for how a student engages with and feels about maths. Every small step can have a snowballing effect and its a privilege to get to help with this.

Teaching:
My teaching style focuses strongly on 'teaching for understanding', using mastery approaches of promoting mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills. Focusing on these skills allows the students to be the centre of the learning process, make connections, and build understanding, confidence and enjoyment in the subject.
Whilst it is always important to give time to practice and become comfortable with new or difficult ideas, within my lessons, I also promote students pushing their standards and trying challenging problems. This helps stretch what they believe they can achieve, and approaching such problems can also massively help benefit understanding of more standards questions.
I typically offer hour long lessons (though I am happy to be flexible) on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.
Experience:
Qualified Teacher (PGCE with distinction from the University of Bristol)
Experience tutoring GCSE, A Level and university mathematics including positions tutoring small groups and individuals at a sixth form college and the University of Warwick
First class Masters of Mathematics from the University of Warwick
