About J
I am a firm believer in unlocking students' potential by creating an engaging and stimulating learning environment. My enthusiasm for English Language and Literature has consistently been a highlight of my teaching career, receiving frequent commendations. I am dedicated to further honing these skills throughout my professional journey. In my experience, particularly with GCSE/IGCSE (across AQA, Edexcel, OCR) and A Level courses (all exam boards), as well as 11 Plus examinations, I have effectively helped students elevate their test scores, often improving by one grade or more. I believe in an inclusive educational system which is non-discriminatory and offers all students the best possible chance to succeed. For most of my teaching career I welcomed educational initiatives such as ‘Excellence Challenge’, along with other schemes to broaden student participation. In the classroom I believe it is very important to help students to develop their thinking and reasoning skills, as well as their literacy and numeracy. In my view it is extremely crucial that students learn to become critical thinkers and develop skills which are increasingly valuable as they progress beyond GCSE and A level to undergraduate studies.
