About Matt
I’m a qualified teacher with a maths specialism, and I help students who struggle with maths build confidence and improve their results, whether that’s preparing for SATs, GCSEs or A-Levels.
Many of the students I work with feel stuck, lack confidence, or find certain topics overwhelming. My approach is to break things down step by step, making maths clear, manageable, and something they can feel successful in.
I studied Financial Mathematics at Loughborough University and have a strong academic background in maths, alongside experience teaching both primary and GCSE students. During my teacher training, I worked closely with Year 6 pupils preparing for SATs, and supported students across a range of abilities.
Because of this, I understand both the content and the common difficulties students face at different stages. My focus is always on building confidence first—because once that improves, progress in maths follows much more naturally.

Lessons are one hour long and can take place either in person (if you’re based in the Nuneaton area) or online.
To begin, we’ll go through your exam board’s syllabus together and have an honest, relaxed chat about the topics you find most challenging. This helps us focus our time where it will make the biggest difference.
From there, lessons will be tailored to you. We’ll use targeted worksheets and practise questions to strengthen weaker areas, while also reinforcing topics you’re already comfortable with.
I place a strong emphasis on building confidence in maths. We’ll take things step by step, making sure you fully understand each concept before moving on, so that you feel comfortable tackling even the most challenging questions.
We’ll also regularly look at mark schemes specific to your exam board, so you know exactly how to structure your answers and pick up every available mark.
