About Sage
“Why didn’t the teacher/lecturer just say that!” - Words that will always resonate with me from the students that I have helped, and that gives me my drive and my confidence.
My name is Sage, I specialise in tutoring Mathematics, Statistics and Afrikaans.
In terms of Maths, it has always been my fun zone! I was always the kid in class that everyone came to for help. I hold distinctions for a few university maths and statistics courses, I am one exam away from qualifying as a Certified Actuarial Analyst and I am also in the process of completing my actuarial boards. I have helped students from primary school to university gain clarity with regards to mathematical concepts which increased their confidence in the subject as well as their performance.
In terms of Afrikaans, I wrote the A level Afrikaans exam whilst in O-level where I achieved a distinction, I also received the top achiever award for Afrikaans that same year. It is also my 2nd language . I have helped primary school kids who were failing Afrikaans to get to 60 and 70% averages.
Although I last tutored in my university years, (9/10 years ago) being the Maths and Afrikaans teacher to my daughter during the lockdown period has reignited my passion for helping others have that "light bulb" moment and my flexible work schedule now allows me to return to doing what inspires me..

otherwise if you provide me with your syllabus/ curriculm I can create lessons on the topic of the week. or we can cover just questions on the current week's topic and then I can prep you ahead of time for the next topic.
we can also use our sessions to focus on test and exam prep.
at your request I can do pre assessments on where you are at and what your problem areas are that we need to focus on. As we go along I will track your progress.
It is really about you and your needs. As humans we all process the same information differently, so when I work with you, I get to see things from your POV and hence I am able to tailor explanations in a way that you are more easily able to process and make sense of, and I think that's one of my greatest abilities and what makes me an effective tutor.
