About Rebecca
I have been tutoring for 5+ years, and I have worked with K-12 in both one-on-one and small group sessions (up to 7 students). I have experience teaching students how to read and write, how to study, how to edit, and how to learn in most any subject. My strengths are in Reading, Writing, History, English, Math, and music courses (including piano lessons), as well as college prep in the form of standardized test prep, essay writing, and more. I have taken a variety of AP courses myself, so I know the rigor and expectations. Additionally, I have graded 450+ 3rd-12th grade papers for teachers nationwide, so I know how to communicate and support young writers.

I approach each topic by first understanding the student's needs and interests. Are they super into Marvel? Do they like making sarcastic jokes? Let's read stories about superheroes or analyze 18th century humor - whatever is relevant to the students' goals! I can match the energy of an incredibly enthusiastic student, and I can also help calmly explain concepts to the most shy and reserved student. I love it when students ask questions, and so I strive to create a learning environment where questions are not just allowed, but strongly encouraged!
