I would make the subject interesting, and fun. Not boring, teach pronunciation of words and the meaning of the word. Example the word Park. It means a playground with equipment like slides, swings, etc.etc. then another explanation is a car park, where people drive their cars into a spot. I would tell the story of the book first, and then slowly teach the child to read, sounding out the word. I would capture the interest of the child and get them to like me first, and look forward to the next lesson
