About Eloise
I'm a driven individual with a love of learning and creative pursuits. Education for all ages is very important to me because learning is not just about getting good grades, it also inspires, motivate and enriches our lives. For this reason I believe it is incredibly important to support learners who need it and to show them that learning can be really interesting!
Due to time pressures it can be difficult for teachers to show this side of education in the classroom, which is why I make a point in my sessions to tailor the content to each individual pupil with links wherever possible to things they enjoy outside of school. This has led to sessions such as Crash Bandicoot Maths. Also, providing help to those that need it helps them stay motivated and positive in the classroom.
I have a proven track record of increasing pupils' reading ages by up to 8 years difference in addition to supporting their comprehension and general fluency through my work as a reading intervention specialist in a secondary school. I have been trained with the Thinking Reading organisation, and am proficient in other intervention strategies too. One of these pupils recently gifted me a card which read "Thank you for helping my reading. I now feel like I am in a whole new world"
Outside of education, I enjoy reading (my current book is 'Written in Bone: hidden messages in what we leave behind' by Sue Black), drawing, painting, and spending time with my family and pets. I aim to follow a career in educational institutions such as libraries and museums.
I have an enhanced DBS check.

My sessions are child-centred and personalised to each individual. During my sessions I will work to inspire and motivate pupils to do the best they can, through allowing them choice over the direction of the session (where possible), linking topics to their personal tastes, and most of all being kind and patient with them.
I can cover all 4 areas of reading support as needed - Word Decoding, Language Comprehension, Fluency, and Enjoyment of Reading. This is done via a variety of methods, as discussed with the parents/carers and the child themselves during the first trial session.
Sessions can be any duration up to 2 hours, however recommended length will change depending on the individual child and their needs (preferably this will be discussed with the parent/carer). These sessions are for ages 6-11 (KS1/2).
