About Beccalynn
I'm a reading tutor with over 35 years of teaching experience, supporting both beginning and struggling readers—from early phonics and pattern recognition to fluency, comprehension, and literary analysis.
Since 2020, I’ve worked with students of all ages online, helping them grow as readers and as learners. My approach is especially effective for neurodivergent students, including those with:
Dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or language processing challenges
Anxiety, school trauma, or difficulty focusing
Gaps in decoding, fluency, or reading comprehension
I blend child development, educational psychology, and trauma-informed care to create a calm, flexible space where readers feel safe, seen, and supported. My background includes early childhood education, Title 1 reading intervention, and 19 years of homeschooling—giving me a deep, adaptive toolkit for learners who need more than just another worksheet.
I believe reading is more than a skill—it’s a lifeline. It’s how we explore other perspectives, build empathy, deepen confidence, and grow critical thinking. Literature in all its forms—whether picture books, graphic novels, or poetry—offers the perfect format for human learning, from pre-reading stages to delayed readers rediscovering their voice.

Looking for a patient, encouraging reading tutor who understands how kids learn differently? I help students build strong reading skills—and feel good about themselves as learners.
I specialize in:
Beginning readers building phonics and pattern recognition Struggling readers with ADHD, autism, or dyslexia
Learners needing confidence, calm pacing, and comprehension support
Homeschoolers and 2nd–6th graders building fluency and critical thinking
For older students, I also offer literature support: We explore fiction and nonfiction texts, analyze theme and tone, and develop writing and expression skills in a supportive space.
With over 35 years of teaching experience—including early childhood, Title 1 reading support, and homeschooling—I bring both professional skill and personal insight. My tutoring blends read-aloud practice, visuals, phonics, and guided discussion to help students truly understand what they’re reading.
Whether your learner is decoding or dissecting, I meet them where they are.

I have had the pleasure of working with Beccalynn for over two years now. She is an extremely talented patient teacher who works incredibly hard to provide the highest quality on-line lessons for everyone of her pupils. Fun and laughter are at the very heart of her lessons. This is the key to effective learning . I would highly recommend her as a teacher.
Michaela Gordon BA(Hons) PGCE NPQHRebecca is an excellent and trustworthy teacher because she has a genuine love for and dedication to her students and their education. I’ve taught philosophy for over twenty years. If I had a child who needed the kind of teaching and tutoring she offers, I would not hesitate to hire her.
Beccalynn is one of the most caring and compassionate people I know. Having known her for decades, I have seen her deep love of learning and education grow and she loves to spread that to others. She will find out the best was to fit a subject to the student's learning style so that they can and will enjoy learning.
Rebecca and I have worked on several dance theater productions including our annual Nutcracker with a cast of over 200 children and teens. Rebecca is a talented props maker and theater hand, but when you are working with children & teens in theater it takes a little something extra beyond being creative, crafty, and quick on your feet. It means pep talks in the wings, teachable moments with curious kids interested in a different aspect of the production they are working on, tutoring when kids have homework to complete during the run of a show, remembering that everyone needs snacks and hydration to be at their best, passing your skills on to other people that need to understudy what you are doing in case you are unavailable for the next showing or production, and generally being a team player that is up for almost anything. She has all of these skills and more. Her background in child development and education make her poised to do this well and she’s really great at working with and teaching kids especially.
