About Aleyah
I earned my Associate's in English at Columbia Junior College in Sonora, California. I earned my Bachelor's in English at Arizona State University (online). With both degrees, I held a 4.0 GPA while working full-time. I have six years of food service management. This doesn't necessarily showcase my ability to tutor, but it does prove my ability to willingly accept the responsibilities I am tasked with (and possess a positive attitude doing so!).
While I may not have any verifiable teaching licensure or experience, I am very passionate about the English subject. In all my spare time, I am reading or writing something. When I started working towards my Bachelor's degree, I did it with the intent to teach at the high school level. My plans (as I'm sure the plans of many others) were halted with the onset of the pandemic. So I'm here now, trying to do some private tutoring until the world is a little less volatile.

I am a firm believer that studying the English language can turn students into independent and original thinkers. Too often public schools do not foster critical thinking skills, so my aim is to help students realize the value in thinking for themselves.
If a casual/one-time tutor is who you are looking for, I would gladly accept the role of editing, proofreading, and reviewing your work in-depth with you; however, I would really enjoy the opportunity to work with students long-term in order to provide the most optimal assistance and guidance. If the latter option is chosen, I will communicate with students/parents to set up an agreeable lesson plan according to a specified timeline. If the student is local, I am open to in-home sessions. It would be ideal for me to work with students ranging from grade 6 to the junior college level, though I am open to working with education levels outside of that range.
