About Stina
Hi, I'm Stina! I just graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Studio Art, and a minor in Art History. I realized I wanted to be a painting tutor in college when one of my friends took a painting class for fun, but quickly found the assignments difficult and asked for my help. In my experience, painting is largely a silent activity done alone, so explaining and showing the strategies and styles to another person I use was something I had never really done before. I was pleasantly surprised at how naturally teaching painting came to me and want to continue to pursue that path.
I want to become a painting professor myself and I plan to start an MFA program for painting in the fall to better equip myself. In the meantime, I want to continue teaching students painting along the way. I enjoy helping students grow their painting skills and feel confident in their work.
I started painting for fun when I was a kid and have over ten years of academic experience painting. My work has been featured in seven shows and four magazines. In high school, I worked as a teacher's assistant at a children's art center and have a year of experience assisting my college professor in painting classes at Santa Clara University.

My lessons are for painters of all levels! If you are new to painting, I can teach you the basics such as rules for a good composition, how to draw it on your canvas, shadows, and light, color mixing, how to paint textures or any other areas you may need help with. If you are experienced but need help in specific areas, I would love to work with you on those problems.
