About Sophie
I am a recent graduate with an Honors degree in English from Acadia University. I have experience working as a peer writing tutor and helping students from a variety of academic disciplines with their writing assignments. During my time at university, I gained plenty of experience with critical reading, academic essay writing, and creative writing and had the opportunity to present both academic and creative work at undergraduate conferences. In addition to my academic background, I have worked with day camp programs and volunteered with Girl Guides of Canada where I have developed and facilitated recreational programming for children and youth. I understand the importance of adaptability when working with different personalities and learning styles, and I always strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable participating to the best of their abilities.

I like to treat tutorials as a collaborative environment so students can gain confidence and independence with their writing skills. I usually begin sessions by inviting students to share the assignment they are working on and explain what areas they would like to work on. I understand the importance of tailoring teaching methods to each individual's needs and like to create an environment that feels friendly so that students feel comfortable asking questions.
