About Gena
As a college-level teaching assistant for going on 4 years, I have been provided with feedback for every semester I have taught. The majority of my feedback is that I am a very passionate, driven, down-to-earth person who really cares about their students. I take the extra time to get to know my students and really work with them to make sure they understand the subjects we are studying. My previous experience as a camp counselor at a marine science summer camp has also given me the positive teaching skills to relate science to my students in a meaningful and fun manner. When I was a student I was very shy and always nervous to ask questions, so I make it known to all of my students that there is no such thing as dumb questions. I also make it clear that my classroom is a safe place for all types of learners, as I have struggled in the past adapting to a classroom setting with ADHD myself.

I have recently acquired my master's degree in marine biology from UNCW, and have a bachelor's degree in both conservation and marine biology from BGSU. I am very passionate about the subject of science, and have recently found it my goal to educate others on these subjects! I have an array of experience with teaching many different levels, and have received both positive and constructive feedback on my teaching skills. I grew up learning science as a fun and meaningful subject, and my goal is to relate these matters in a similar fashion to your day-to-day life!
