About Mariana
Hi! I am Mariana Hincapie, a recent high school graduate. I moved from Bogotá, Colombia a year ago and am interested in teaching Spanish. In the past I have taught Spanish to my peers and am very knowledgeable of the language not only from speaking it as a native speaker but also due to my large academic background. On a personal note, some of the things I enjoy doing the most are reading, exercising, and spending time with animals! I dream of getting a part-time job at the zoo one day! At home I have a 15-year-old dog and spending time with her is one of my favorite things to do. Additionally, I will be entering New York University in the fall as a business major and I am very excited! My biggest goal in life is to make an impact in the world and I believe that being a tutor is a way to start doing so, helping one student at a time.

My teaching approach consists of getting to know the student and providing educational structure based on the preferred learning style and level. Additionally, apart from the one-on-one time that I need with my students, I assign some small individual tasks in between tutoring sessions (adjusting for time availability) in order to help with language learning as much as possible. In the past I have learned English, German, and French, and what sets me apart from the rest of tutors is that I am able to put myself in the place of a language learner, and my teaching methods are effective and personalized. Lastly, it’s important to mention that my lessons are for anyone who wants to learn Spanish from any level and at any age.
