About Amelia
I recently graduated from The University of British Columbia with a bachelor's degree in English language and literature and a minor in Environment and Sustainability. During my time at UBC, I was involved with numerous clubs and student associations, including as a peer mentor and as the editor-in-chief of a nationally recognized undergraduate research journal.
I grew up in California and now live in the Metro-Vancouver area, so I'm able to edit and tutor for both American and Canadian English.
I love teaching and working with people of all ages! In the past, I've worked as an instructional assistant for groups of 10 to 30 elementary, middle, and high school students. I have also worked as a private nanny for children aged 2 to 10 years old.
Something to know about me is that I have ADHD, and I spent many years at school learning what works – and what doesn't – for me. While I can't know what works for each individual, I am very patient and love to make plans that work for you, specifically!

I am available to tutor all ages! I offer 1-on-1 tutoring in reading, writing, comprehension, and grammar for elementary to high school students, as well as essay editing and revision for high school, college, and university students either online or in-person.
I work with each student individually to come up with a plan for either one-off or regular sessions to help each person achieve their goals.
My past experiences as a teaching assistant at the high school level, as well as being the editor-in-chief of an undergraduate research journal, have prepared me to assist in many different capacities!
Additionally, my lived experience as a student with ADHD allows me to meet students where they are and create plans that work for – not against – them and their strengths.
