About Layla
I am a gap year student with a strong interest in science and education, offering tutoring in Key Stage 3 Science and GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
I understand what it feels like to struggle academically and to feel as though you are not getting the support you need at school. For parts of my own education, I had to work things out independently, which gave me a clear understanding of how overwhelming that can feel without the right guidance.
Because of this, I am particularly interested in supporting students who lack confidence in science or who find school stressful or difficult. I aim to explain topics in a simple, structured way and to create a relaxed environment where students feel able to ask questions without pressure.
My focus is on helping students build understanding from the ground up, rather than relying on memorisation, so that they can approach exams with more confidence and independence.

My teaching approach focuses on building confidence as well as academic understanding. Having experienced the pressures and anxiety that can come with school and exams, I understand that every student learns differently. I aim to create a supportive, judgement-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through topics at their own pace.
Before beginning regular lessons, I offer a free 60-minute introductory session. This allows us to discuss the student's goals, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and create a personalised learning plan tailored to their individual needs.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are structured around each student's objectives. Sessions may include topic teaching, exam technique, revision strategies, practice questions, and support with difficult concepts. I place particular emphasis on understanding rather than memorisation, helping students develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions independently.
I am currently offering tutoring in Key Stage 3 Science and GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Lessons are suitable for students of all abilities, whether they are aiming to improve their grades, build confidence in science, prepare for exams, or simply gain a better understanding of the subject.
As a recent A-level student, I have up-to-date knowledge of the current curriculum and exam requirements, allowing me to provide relevant and practical support to students navigating today's education system.
