About Me
Hello, my name is Emma, and I'm a passionate and experienced GCSE English tutor. As a qualified teacher and Teach First Ambassador, I have a deep understanding of the curriculum and a proven track record of helping students to succeed. Whether you need support with English Literature or English Language, I have the skills to guide you.
I specialise in the creative and non-fiction writing components of the GCSE English Language papers. I can teach you specific techniques to manage your time effectively, read and annotate texts in section A strategically, and demonstrate a deeper understanding of language by interpreting its subtleties.
With a background as a whole-school literacy coordinator, I know how to make the curriculum engaging for all students, especially those who may not find English naturally interesting. I have experience helping a diverse range of students, including those with English as an additional language, neurodivergent and complex needs, and those learning independently.
I believe in setting high expectations for all my students. My teaching approach is built on motivation, connecting with students' existing interests to help them achieve the pass and beyond. I'm confident that together, we can unlock your full potential in English.

I will select engaging texts and activities to boost your motivation and will proactively draw upon your own interests to develop your analytical prowess.
As a current AQA examiner, I know how to help you prepare for the challenges of the new specification and can advise you upon managing the recent changes.
