About Steve
-I have been earning my living as a full time professional drummer since 1988. I started at the age of 17. While my friends were going to parties and the movies on the weekends, I was playing gigs around Long Island and NYC.
-My first "famous" drum teacher, Dom Famularo, insisted that I share my knowledge and experiences with those who want to learn, so I also started teaching kids at the age of 17.
-After playing weddings, events and bar gigs as a teenager, I wanted to learn from the best in the world. That's when I went to 3 schools. I took private Jazz drumming lessons at The Drummers Collective in Manhattan. I was also taught how to read music by some of the greatest Broadway drummers. Then I went to Los Angeles for 8 months to study with legendary studio drummers. While in Los Angeles, I auditioned for a scholarship to study at Berklee College Of Music in Boston. I received a full scholarship.
I spent 3 years in Boston. During my first year, I joined several working bands in the New England area to pay for books and housing. I was also performing with faculty. In my 2nd year, Berklee sent me around the world as a student clinician. I was the first Berklee drum student to perform at the Monterey Jazz Festival in CA, as well as The Kobe Jazz Fest in Kobe Japan. By my 3rd year, I was already going on tour and driving from Boston to play jazz clubs in NYC. So I decided to leave Berklee and begin my career.
Since then I've played on hundreds of recordings including albums, TV jingles, movie scores and TV soundtracks, and I've toured the world with many of the greatest music artists in history.

Beginners learn the basics properly.The history of the instrument, hand and foot technique, reading rhythms, and playing styles.
Intermediates, advanced and professionals will each have curriculums based on their goals.
For example, a student wanting to play professionally will have a different curriculum than a student who wants to play for fun.
Some of my students have been (or are) the drummers for Hall&Oates, Gwen Stefani, Jacob Collier,Meatloaf, David Letterman Show, Michael Bolton, Mike Stern etc.

I've been a huge fan of Steve's playing for years. I recently started private lessons with him at his studio, and I'm already seeing a huge difference in my playing. He's masterful on the instrument, can play (and teach) ANYTHING, and has an incredible feel. I'm in the LA area, and I recommend him constantly to locals. I know he also teaches online. Can't recommend him highly enough.
No one has more experience on this instrument than Steve Hass. I saw him with John Scofield in New Orleans and I was ecstatic to be able to study with him. He expanded my musical horizons.

Details
$150.00 is a single lesson rate. However, for weekly students, it's $75.00 per lesson, if the student books 4 lessons. Payment for every month is made at the booking time to secure the appointment. Cancellations must be made over 24hrs before the lessons otherwise there is no refund or makeup.
