About Micheal
I bring a strong analytical background and decades of real-world problem-solving experience to my work as a math tutor. I spent many years working in accounting and project-based environments, where accuracy, logic, and clear thinking were essential every day. My professional experience included extensive use of systems such as Sage 100, cost tracking, reconciliations, and data analysis—all of which rely heavily on applied mathematics and structured reasoning.
Earlier in my career, I was also a licensed real estate agent in the Seattle area, which further strengthened my ability to explain complex numerical concepts in a clear, practical way to people with very different learning styles. Teaching, coaching, and breaking things down so others could make confident decisions has always been a core part of my work.
Now retired from full-time accounting, I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to focus on helping students truly understand math rather than just memorizing formulas. I’m patient, methodical, and supportive, and I believe confidence grows when students understand the “why” behind the math.
I work especially well with students who feel overwhelmed or frustrated, and my goal is always to make math feel logical, manageable, and even satisfying.

A typical tutoring session with me is structured, interactive, and tailored to the student’s specific goals. I begin by identifying where the student feels confident and where they’re getting stuck, then build the lesson around those needs. My approach focuses on clarity first—breaking down complex concepts into simple, logical steps—followed by guided practice so students can apply what they’ve learned right away.
I use a mix of explanation, worked examples, and problem-solving together. Rather than just showing how to get the answer, I emphasize why each step works, helping students develop true understanding and confidence. Sessions often include reviewing homework or upcoming tests, reinforcing key concepts, and practicing similar problems until the student feels comfortable.
What sets me apart is my patience and adaptability. I adjust my teaching style to match how each student learns—whether that’s visual, step-by-step, or discussion-based—and I encourage questions at every stage.
My lessons are for middle school, high school, and early college students, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. Whether a student needs help catching up, staying on track, or excelling, my goal is to make math approachable and manageable.
