About Lori
After graduating from the University of Chicago with a degree in Romance languages and literatures, I earned a master's degree in Applied Linguistics and a bachelor's degree in design engineering technology. After my first bachelor's and masters degree, I was fortunate enough to teach English as a second language to academic and business professionals from all over the world. Many of my students were highly advanced individuals who needed to fine-tune their English skills. A midlife crisis took me back to school where I earned my design engineering degree. I worked for 5 years in engineering before retirement.

I taught for over 20 years before becoming a design engineer. I understand different teaching methodologies and how to approach students in a non-threatening way. Most fears in math come from previous failure and the belief that it is impossible to learn. By breaking each aspect down so that the student understands, I am able to successfully help struggling students get past their fears and understand what they're missing.
