About James
High School degree, Northwestern High School, Maryland (1969). BA degree Michigan State University (Economics and History), J.D. degree University of Michigan (Law). I attended 4th and 5th grade in Caracas, Venezuela. I have strong experience in math and statistics. I have done considerable world travelling (in my younger days). I have argued at the US Supreme Court and many lower courts. I have finished two screenplays which I am trying to market. I have minor acting experience. I have sold shoes, worked as a surveyor's assistant, and worked for the Census Bureau. I am accustomed to using vivid and powerful language to convey points without ambiguity.

I first make sure I have a good understanding of the material and curriculum. I would then want to prepare in advance an outline of the material, just as I did for courts, so I can spend more time teaching or explaining and less time fumbling. I can lecture at length, or can speed it up. I prefer to have a question and answer period for students. I would want to go over assignments with students to show where improvements can be made to their first submission. I would want to give students an opportunity to resubmit an amended assignment that would improve on the first. I am more interested in seeing that students actually learn than assigning a hierarchy of grades.
