About Rose
Hi! My name is Rose and I'm a rising freshman at Johns Hopkins University. I have a love for learning which has aided my academic success and I would love to share my knowledge, skills, and tips to help other students on their educational journeys. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school while taking a highly rigorous course load (14 AP classes) and being an active member in extracurricular activities. Outside of school, I enjoy running, horseback riding, drawing, and painting. Don't hesitate to reach out!

I aim to help middle and high school students improve in academic subjects such as math (from basic arithmetic and algebra up to precalculus) and Spanish (up to the intermediate level). I'm also happy to help students applying to colleges edit their personal statements and supplemental essays, as I recently went through the application process and was accepted to Johns Hopkins and Cornell University. As a tutor, I would first assess the student's individual needs by identifying their strengths and weaknesses in the subject at hand, whether it's algebra, geometry, Spanish, writing, or another discipline. This way I can tailor my approach to your specific needs. I'll ask about your goals and expectations, and highlight additional resources to supplement the tutoring. My priorities and approaches: Creating a Positive Learning Environment: I would establish a friendly and supportive atmosphere to encourage open communication, create a comfortable space, and provide constructive feedback. Simplifying Concepts: I'll break down complex ideas into smaller, more manageable parts. Using clear and concise explanations, I'll provide real-life examples or visual aids when necessary (and ensure that the students understand each step before moving on to the next one). Interactive Learning: I understand that ACTIVE learning is the most efficient and effective way to learn any subject. I'll incorporate interactive and gamified activities to make the lessons more enjoyable and memorable. Individualized Instruction: I recognize that each student learns differently, so I'll adapt my teaching style to accommodate various learning preferences, such as visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. Practice and Reinforcement: I'll provide ample opportunities for practice to reinforce the concepts taught by assigning exercises, worksheets, or online resources for independent practice. I'll review their work together if requested, offering guidance and pointing out areas that require improvement. Encouraging Self-Reflection: Reflecting on their learning process is important for each student's improvement. It'll help them develop effective study habits, time management skills, and organizational strategies.
