About Samia
I’m Samia Sultana, a passionate and patient math tutor who’s been helping students excel in math for over five years. Math has been my favorite subject since class 7, where I started scoring 100 in it. While my goal isn’t just to get students to score 100, most of my students have consistently scored between 95 and 100. I believe math is about more than just numbers; it’s about engaging with problems in a way that stimulates your mind and gives you an immediate sense of accomplishment when you solve them. I aim to make math both enjoyable and accessible, focusing on building confidence and understanding in every student I work with. Whether you're struggling with basics or aiming for excellence in advanced topics, I break things down step-by-step, ensuring that every concept makes sense before moving forward. I am patient, motivating, and always ready to make sure you feel comfortable as we work through each lesson. As a tutor, I believe in starting from the basics. I make sure to explain why a concept is important to learn, often relating it to real-life applications. I also like to dive into any historical context or meaning behind the math, like sharing the story of Pythagoras for geometry. Once the foundation is set, I show step-by-step solutions to problems, followed by having the student solve similar ones themselves. I assign homework for practice and ensure they’re constantly revising to reinforce their learning.
For those just starting, I teach every topic from scratch, building up gradually. For students who are already familiar with the basics, I assess their current knowledge and dive deeper into more complex material based on their strengths and weaknesses.
What sets me apart is my patience and ability to make learning fun. I’m a soft-spoken person, and though I may not be the best at scolding, I’m always gentle but firm when necessary. I strive to make lessons engaging, knowing when to slow down, take breaks, and ensure the student is fully absorbing the material.
I prefer teaching students who are struggling with math, as I can relate to the challenges they face. My ideal students are high schoolers, but I’m equally comfortable teaching college-level material. I love helping students build confidence and overcome their fear of math, making them feel more comfortable with the subject.
