About Kathy
Hi! I'm Kathy, a working artist with an MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, specializing in painting. I teach from my own creative practice, helping students develop portfolios for secondary school or university applications and guiding hobbyists to broaden their artistic exploration. I'm experienced working with preschool and secondary school students, as well as adults. My background includes planning engaging art lessons for young children and guiding teenagers through portfolio development and artistic growth. I'm passionate about making art accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you're preparing for art college admissions, exploring art as a hobby, or developing your painting skills at any level, I'd love to help you get started!

I also specialise in portfolio development for art school applications, creating the strongest portfolio that reflects your uniqueness while catering to your goals.
My teaching is tailored to your specific needs, but I always emphasise playful experimentation. For teens and adults looking to pursue further art education, I help develop artistic vocabulary, art history knowledge, and critical discussion about student’s creative process, alongside foundational techniques. With younger students, I focus on fun, engaging activities that encourage visual curiosity and conversation.
As a working artist with an MFA, I understand what makes a compelling portfolio because I've been through the process myself. I specialise in helping students create cohesive bodies of work that showcase their individual strengths and stands out in applications. For those exploring art as a hobby, I bring the same professional knowledge and enthusiasm without the pressure. You'll learn painting techniques and develop your skills in a relaxed, supportive environment where experimentation and enjoyment come first.
