About Callum

My name is Callum, and I am currently studying for my BSc in Environmental Science at the University of Brighton. I have also taken university-level modules in Applied Chemistry including Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry as well as others such as Biochemistry and Polymer Chemistry. I want to help young people reach their potential; the unique advantage of studying such an interdisciplinary subject as a tutor is both the breadth and depth of knowledge required from different subject areas; a sound background in geological, biological and chemical processes are required and I hope to bring my experience in industry to inspire children. For example, I have worked as an apprentice at a QC Chemistry laboratory, and I hope to combine both the theoretical and practical knowledge from academia and industry to inspire children and open their horizons.

About the lesson

Ideally looking to teach those at GCSE Level with explanations on key chemical, biological and geographical concepts. A typical example is the formation of types of chemical bonds and their application in a worldwide context such as why the properties of water allow life to even exist. This will provide students with not only an understanding of concepts key to their exams but also allow prepare them for any higher-level qualifications they may wish to take. Lesson lengths will vary depending on the particular need of the student and my availability; however, I would ideally be looking for a minimum of 0.5-1-hour blocks depending on the intensity of the specific tutoring session. I found my passion for tutoring by helping to tutor other college students in both the year below me and those of the same year whilst studying for my A-levels. I hope to bring forward specific revision techniques, tips and tricks to enable students to reach their potential!

Perfect! Callum was really lovely and understanding towards my daughter who really struggles in Maths. He took the time to explain the exercises in a way she would understand and gave her plenty of time to work things out. He offered lots of helpful worksheets for her to practice on too. All in all really great!
