About Emily
I am from the UK and have an undergraduate and Masters degree in Neuroscience from the University of Glasgow and a PhD in human genetics from the University of Newcastle. During my PhD I worked as a teaching assistant for the biomedicine degree course. I moved to Canada in 2019 to work as a postdoctoral fellow at a children's hospital. As part of my role I supervise undergraduate/masters/PhD students and teach them about genetics and lab techniques. I also review grants for various funding agencies and publications for a number of scientific journals. Teaching is one of the best parts of my job and I look forward to getting to meet some of you and help you with your studies! I tailor each class to the specific requirements of my student. After we work out what you need to focus on I will use a range of materials to help guide you through the topic . These session will be interactive to help you learn faster, rather than you listening to a lecture!

My lessons are best suited for high school and undergraduate students who want to focus on topics within biology and maths, including assisting with lab-related calculations if you are starting a new work placement! I can also help with thesis writing, essays and dissertations, as well as helping prepare resumes and cover letters.
