About Lily
Spanish is part of a thirteen-year tutoring career during which I have worked with 600 students of varying ages and levels throughout my ongoing career. My background includes real-world use of the language across many different contexts, which shapes a practical, applied teaching style rather than a purely theoretical one. I am informal and conversational, and sessions often feel collaborative rather than lecture style throughout our time working together. I take on both complete beginners and advanced students, adjusting my approach depending on the group I am working with at any given time. Watching a student move from hesitant to confident speech is genuinely rewarding.

My Spanish lessons connect grammar to something the student can apply immediately, rather than presenting rules as abstract concepts disconnected from real conversation and daily life. New topics usually start with a practical example drawn from the student's own life, since visible relevance keeps motivation high throughout the lesson. I avoid long lectures in favour of short mini lessons followed by guided practice, keeping students actively speaking rather than passively listening throughout our time together. Students keep a personal error log reviewed periodically to spot recurring weaknesses before they become larger gaps in fluency. Sessions end with a short reflection on the day's key idea, said in the student's own words.
