About Tom
I’m Tom, a 20 year old student at York University.
I love maths, obviously, but I also love getting out and keeping active.
Since I was in high school, I’ve wanted to teach maths, and instill the passion for the subject I have into other people.
As someone who used to be in bottom-set, and is now on track to get a first class degree at University, I’m an example that tutoring really does work!

As somebody who has both been tutored in maths and done tutoring within my college, I understand how important it is for a tutor to adapt to an individual’s learning style.
I will use visual aids (Drawing on my iPad) and go through past paper questions for topics that need work.
I’ll also keep the sessions light-hearted. Students too often believe maths is inaccessible, but the way it is taught is as much to blame as anything else!
As somebody who has only recently left further education, I am still familiar with what exam boards want to see from students’ answers. I will give all the helpful ‘insider tips’ so quick hidden marks can be picked up.
