About Hilary
My name is Hilary, and I am a second-year nursing student with a strong academic foundation in math, science, reading, and writing. I am passionate about helping elementary students (K–6) build confidence, improve their understanding of core subjects, and develop strong study habits that support long-term success in school.
My teaching approach is patient, structured, and supportive. I focus on breaking down concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps and adapting my explanations to each student’s learning style. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, so I create a calm and encouraging environment where questions are always welcome.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material, followed by focused teaching of one key concept, guided practice, and independent practice to reinforce learning. I make sure students fully understand the material before moving on, and I adjust pacing based on their needs.
What sets me apart is my background in nursing, which has strengthened my communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to stay patient under pressure. I bring these qualities into every lesson to ensure students feel supported, capable, and motivated.
I work with elementary students who need support in math, reading, writing, science, or general homework help, and I aim to make learning both effective and enjoyable.

I am Hilary, a second-year nursing student with a strong academic background in math, science, reading, and writing. My tutoring approach is patient, supportive, and focused on helping students truly understand concepts rather than memorize answers.
I use a step-by-step teaching method where I first assess what the student already knows, then break down new concepts into simple, easy-to-follow explanations. I often use examples, guided practice, and repetition to build confidence. I also adjust my teaching style based on each student’s learning pace and needs.
A typical lesson includes a quick review of previous material, focused teaching of one main concept, guided practice together, and then independent practice to reinforce learning. I always leave time for questions and ensure the student feels comfortable before moving on.
What sets me apart is my healthcare training, which has strengthened my communication, patience, and ability to explain complex ideas in a calm and clear way. I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel supported and confident.
