About Shreeya
I’m Shreeya, a second-year Biomedical Science and Computer Science student at the University of Waikato with a strong love for languages and communication. English has always been one of my strongest subjects, and I enjoy helping students unlock their potential by making reading, writing, and speaking feel natural and enjoyable. Coming from a family of experienced teachers, I’ve grown up in an environment where education and clear communication are highly valued. I understand the challenges students face, whether it’s structuring essays, improving grammar, or finding the right words—and I know how to break these challenges into manageable, confidence-building steps. I want to teach because I believe English is more than just a school subject, it’s a skill for life. Helping students express themselves clearly and confidently is incredibly rewarding, and I’m committed to making that journey engaging, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s goals.

I focus on building both confidence and skill in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension. My lessons are interactive and tailored to each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and goals. I use engaging activities such as discussions, creative writing prompts, and real-world examples to make learning meaningful. I also place emphasis on grammar, vocabulary, and exam techniques, ensuring students can communicate clearly and effectively.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, starting with a warm-up activity to review previous learning, followed by focused skill-building, and ending with practical application or short exercises. Students are encouraged to ask questions at any point, and I provide feedback to guide their progress.
I am a second-year university student majoring in Biomedical Science and Computer Science, with a strong academic record in English throughout high school and university. Coming from a family of experienced teachers, I’ve been familiar with the NCEA curriculum from a young age and have experience tutoring students in English, helping them improve grades and boost confidence.
I teach NCEA Level 1–3 English, as well as general English skills for younger students or those learning English as an additional language. My lessons are suitable for students aged 13–18 who want to strengthen their writing, comprehension, and communication skills, or prepare for school assessments and exams.
