About Elizabeth
I am a Secondary Education/English major currently enrolled at the University of Scranton. I grew up feeling insecure about my writing ability, but by the time I was in high school, I had basically figured out what teachers wanted to hear in an essay. However, I think the most important thing to consider in writing is your own academic integrity. While maintaining high grades is important, it is most important that you feel proud of your work and feel as though it represents your ideas in the clearest, strongest way possible. I have a passion for teaching, but until I finish my degree, I'd love to start helping students feel more confident in their writing abilities, today.

I want to know how I can help you become confident in your own ability. I will teach basic structures and formal writing rules/principles, so students have a jumping off point. However, after that my style involves giving students the opportunity to let me know what they felt proud of, disappointed in, or confused about in their own writing. I can go through ways to help resolve these issues going forward and provide suggestions that might make their writing stronger. I will give brief lessons or explanations about important considerations for the type of writing being performed. For example, if my student had a paper due in which the prompt was to argue whether or not vaccines should be mandatory, my advice might be to keep in mind that your audience should be those who disagree with your stance, and you should include counterarguments to strengthen your point. I would be best suited to tutor High School students in general education or advanced level writing classes.
