About Fischer
Hey there, my name is Fischer Biggs and I am a rising senior at Lafayette College majoring in Biology with a minor in Government and Law. In school, I practice what I preach. I rely heavily on repetition and testing when learning new content and studying for exams. At Lafayette, I specialize in genetics, and this summer I will be conducting research at the University of Louisville School of Medicine under Dr. David Powell Ph.D. investigating improved means of diagnosing and fighting Lupus Nephritis through genetic means. I hope to bring all the information I have learned through my time at college to create a comfortable work environment that we both enjoy.

Nothing is more important when learning new information and studying than repetition. As an NCAA D1 track and field student-athlete, this idea follows me in the throwing rings and the classroom. A typical lesson with me includes: review and practice of previous material and teaching and guided practice of new material. Reviewing material from the previous lesson and then practicing problems on the material will make the student recall information and cement strategies for future situations. After the review, new material is introduced with guided practice. I will walk the student through some of these questions so they can see how to answer them, then be there to help the student when needed. The student will then be given practice problems (very few) to complete outside of the scheduled session to have further practice. My lessons will be catered to middle (6-8) and high school (9-12) students but can be accommodated for elementary school (K-5) students.
