About Reagan
I have tutored general chemistry students at Berry College for a year as well as conducted research. On top of my role as a researcher I have had to teach new students on the team the theory of analytical chemistry, the theory of certain instruments, and how to conduct experiments. Most of my work at Berry College has been centered around method development for gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography. My most significant research experience was during an internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where I helped developed a method of detecting metals in proteins on western blot paper using a micro extraction-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer.

Once I have explained the basic concepts of the material I work through example problems, ensuring to explain why certain steps are taken and how to apply the process/concepts to a real world setting. A typical lesson plan will start with a short lecture, working through exercises, and then having the student work through an exercise or more to show their understanding of the topic(s). In my experience, this method has worked well for undergraduate students taking general chemistry and analytical chemistry.
