I’m a highly dependable and experienced sewing instructor who takes great pride in both my craft and my professionalism. Students can always count on me to show up prepared, on time, and fully committed to helping them succeed. Over the years, I’ve worked with people of all ages and backgrounds, and I understand how to adapt my teaching style to fit individual needs. I believe in creating a positive, respectful learning environment where students feel supported and empowered. I’m organized, patient, and take my role as an instructor seriously- whether you’re learning for fun, building a skill, or pursuing a creative goal. I love what I do, and I work hard to make sure every student feels confident, encouraged, and inspired in every session.

Hi! My name is Amelie, and I‘m a passionate sewing instructor with over 10 years of experience and more than 5 years of teaching sewing and fashion design in after-school programs across New York City. I’ve also provided private sewing lessons for both children and adults through Takelessons in NYC and New Jersey, and now I’m based in Towson, MD and happy to travel into Baltimore City as well.
Whether you’re an absolute beginner or returning to sewing after years away, I’ll guide you with patience, encouragement, and hands-on practice. I specialize in helping students understand their sewing machines, build strong foundational skills, and confidently create whatever their heart desires- from garments and accessories to home decor and upholstery.
I absolutely love teaching- in fact, I love teaching sewing even more than I love sewing itself! Whether you’re learning for a creative hobby, personal projects, or future career goals, I’m here to support your journey every stitch of the way.

Perfect! Very informative
Perfect! Amelie is great! She helped make a last minute unique wedding gift idea (joint intro class) happen and the bride loved it! The class was at her home and Amelie and her partner made it extra special and a fun experience.
Perfect! What an amazing teacher Amelie is!! I booked this class in order to clean up my sewing skills and make my work professional, which she certainly helped me accomplish. I learned things about my sewing machine I never knew, important skills, and reassurance on things I have been doing. Having someone walk me through the things that I want to create was truly a blessing. She even helped me out with some things for me to do on my own time. If I ever need to learn how to sew something and need support, I know who to go to. Thank you Amelie!!!!
